DATEL Introduces USQ Series DC/DC Converters

June 13, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

DATEL Inc. (Mansfield, MA) announced its USQ Series of high-efficiency, quarter-brick, dc/dc converters. The new 20A, 30A, and 40A dc/dc converters utilize a fully synchronous forward topology and the newest available components.

The new converters are fully line and load regulated (±0.05 percent maximum) and feature a quick transient response (200µsec maximum to ±1 percent of final value for a 50- to 75-percent load step), 50mV of p-p noise, stable no-load operation, user-optional remote on/off control (for power sequencing), and a variety of protection schemes to protect both the converter and its load, including an optional input over-voltage protection scheme. Models with input voltages of 48V (36Vdc to 75Vdc) and 24V (18Vdc to 36Vdc) are provided.

The USQ converters feature a 91 percent efficiency, which enables them to deliver fully rated output power from -40 to +60 degrees C without heatsinks. Heatsinks are available for demanding, extended temperature-range applications to operate in temperatures up to +100 degrees C.

The 100-percent, automatically assembled USQ converters achieve a high MTBF by using reliable “snap together” planar magnetics. The USQ Series has HALT, EMI/EMC compliance testing and IEC 950/ UL6050/EN60950 safety approval testing.

The USQ Series of converters are priced at $104 each for singles and $69 each for 1,000 pieces. Small quantities and evaluation units are available from stock to four weeks. Production quantities require four to eight weeks.
