Cherokee International Introduces the CAR4010 Series of Power Supplies

Cherokee International LLC (Tustin, CA) recently introduced its CAR4010 Series of 4,000W bulk power, hot-pluggable, switch-mode power supplies. According to the company, the CAR4010 power supplies are designed for use as dc front ends for computer and communications applications utilizing distributed power architecture.

The CAR4010 Series features active PFC to comply with EN61000-3-2, and EMI filtering that meets both conducted and radiated FCC Class A (EN55022/11) electromagnetic compatibility conformance on all models. The ac input is 180Vac to 264Vac continuous range operation, and 47Hz to 63Hz, single phase. Dimensions for the device are 4.95" x 4.95" x 14.5". Output voltages available are 24Vdc, 28Vdc, 48Vdc and 54Vdc.

Features of the CAR4010 include N+1 redundancy, droop current sharing, and an optional rack-mounted 19 three-slot or 23 four-slot power shelf. Other product features include over-temperature protection, current limiting and over-voltage protection, and LED indicators for ac/ok, dc/ok and temperature fail. The series has safety agency approvals for electronic equipment that includes UL1950 recognized; CSA C22.2, Nos. 950 and 234 certified; and TUV licensed to IEC950 and EN60950.

The CAR4000 power supplies will be offered with an optional three-slot 19 or four-slot 23 rack-mount power bay. In small 100-piece quantities, pricing for the CAR4010 starts under $0.50/W. Availability is typically 10 weeks ARO.
