California Micro Devices Introduces New CMPWR300 and CMPWR280 Semiconductors

March 26, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

California Micro Devices Corp. (CAMD, Milpitas, CA) announced the introduction of the CMPWR300 and CMPWR280 devices, two monolithic CMOS semiconductors, to its existing family of power-management products.

Using CAMD's SmartOR technology, the new parts give continuous 3.3V output power from one of three supplies determined by the system requirements, and automatically selected by the internal controller. An internal LDO regulator in each model provides 3.3V output from 5V inputs, while an external (CMPWR280) or an internal (CMPWR300) switch controls the operation of the 3.3V auxiliary input.

The CMPWR280 is available in a five-pin TO-263 power package and the CMPWR300 in an advanced eight-pin SOIC thermal package. Pricing in quantities of 10,000 is $0.96 for the CMPWR300 and $1.22 for the CMPWR280. Samples are currently available and production time is six weeks ARO.
