Beta Dyne Intros New 75W DC/DC Converters

November 25, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) announced the release of a new series of 75W, single-output, dc/dc converters that feature industry-standard pinout in a package smaller than a quarter brick at only 1in x 2.3in x 0.4in. The converters achieve high efficiency up to 93 percent and power density of 98W/cu-in via patented designs that utilize improved synchronous rectification techniques and planar magnetics.

The high efficiency, coupled with a multilayer PCB and thermal management, minimize power dissipation and allow the converters to operate without an external heatsink. The through-hole pins allow for low-cost installation and act as an integrated heatsink. The converters also feature a 100µS transient response time, 500µA of off-state current, output synchronous rectification, a 2:1 input-voltage range, input-to-output isolation, soft-start, short-circuit protection, thermal protection, under-voltage protection and external synchronization.

The 16 models offer various input and output voltages to meet the needs of the instrumentation, industrial, medical, communications, computers and fiber optics fields. Units are available four to six weeks ARO. Pricing starts at $99 each and discounts are available for larger quantities.
