Bekaert ECD Solar Systems Ships BIPV Product

United Solar Systems Corp., a joint venture between Energy Conversion Devices Inc. and N.V. Bekaert S.A., announced that Bekaert ECD Solar System LLC has shipped 148kW of its building- integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products to Energy Australia (Australia).

The shipment consists of Bekaert ECD's UNI-SOLAR roofing laminate (PVL) that will be bonded to metal roofing pans by Energy Australia. The PVL product will provide electrical power for the prestigious Kogarah Town Square Project in Australia. The project is aimed at demonstrating the best environmental design for urban development.

Stanford R. Ovshinsky, chairman and CEO of United Solar and president and CEO of ECD, stated, "This project will showcase the uniqueness and versatility of our building-integrated photovoltaic products in Australia, and will increase the awareness of commercial and residential developers about the benefits of UNI-SOLAR products that are aesthetically pleasing and easy to install."
