AVX Introduces New Higher-Voltage U-Dielectric Capacitor

March 05, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) introduced a new higher-voltage U-dielectric capacitor. The company claims that the new ranges, from 100V to 200V, make the devices appropriate to applications requiring low ESR capacitors with higher voltage capabilities, such as amplifiers and modulators for communications and wireless network applications.

The new higher-voltage U-dielectric capacitors are available in 0603, 0805 and 1210 sizes and are rated at 50V, 100V and 200V respectively. Capacitance values and tolerances for the 0603 are 1.0pF to 47pF at 1MHz. For the 0805, 1.0pF to 160pF at 1MHz, and for the 1210, 1.0pF to 1,000pF at 1MHz.

“The higher voltage range is ideal for pulse mode communications," stated Larry Eisenberger, AVX product manager. “The higher Q value and the lower ESR results in lower power loss and a more efficient circuit."

Prices for the new capacitors range from $0.03 to $0.35 each. They are available from stock for immediate delivery.
