Ault Closes Maryland Facility and Consolidates Operations at Corporate Headquarters

May 02, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Ault Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) has announced that it is closing its Gaithersberg, MD, facility and consolidating the sales and engineering functions located there into the company's Minneapolis headquarters operation. The consolidation will be completed in June.

Acquired in 1998, the Gaithersberg operation was involved with the company's low-volume, fast turnaround Ault Express line of external power supplies. Manufacturing for this business was previously relocated to the company's Korean and Minneapolis facilities.

Frederick M. Green, Ault's president and CEO, said the Gaithersberg operation is no longer required for the effective functioning of the Ault Express business and that significant efficiencies will be attained by consolidating its sales and engineering into the Minneapolis operation. Commenting that closing the Gaithersberg facility is part of a program to evaluate and reduce the company's cost structure, Green said the one-time costs associated with this consolidation initiative will be nominal and should not have a material impact on the company's operating results in coming quarters.
