Astec Power Unveils AEH/ALH 60 Series Converter

June 12, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) introduced its new 60A, half-brick, dc/dc converter, the AEH/ALH 60 Series, which features two versions that are currently available: the open-frame ALH60, and the heatsink-adaptable AEH60. Both models boast operating efficiencies as high as 91 percent on the 3.3V model, and 89 percent on the 1.8V model, while delivering 60A of load current at an ambient operating temperature of 25 degrees C.

With a 36V to 75V input range and output voltages of 1.2V, 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V, the new devices are suitable for data and telecommunications applications, including wireless transmitters, receivers and base stations. The AEH/ALH 60 Series feature a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +100 degrees C baseplate temperature for the AEH60, and -40 to +85 degrees C ambient air temperature for the ALH60.

The AEH60 and ALH60 family offers an adjustable output voltage to ±10 percent, an enable-input control pin, under-voltage lockout with hysteresis to prevent false starting and stopping at low input voltages, over-temperature protection, over-current protection, and over-voltage protection. The family comes in an industry-standard, half-brick, pin-out footprint and

package size of 2.3in x 2.4in.

Priced from $100 in 1,000-piece quantities, samples of the 3.3V model are available now.
