Analog Devices Intros ADT74607463 dBCOOL ICs

September 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Analog Devices Inc. (Wilmington, MA) debuted two new members of its dBCOOL™ family of ICs, the ADT7460 and ADT7463, for thermal systems controllers and notebook and desktop PCs. The ADT7460 and ADT7463 can optimize fan speed for systems in which internal configurations such as PCI or AGP add-in cards may one day be installed, or for systems operating in external conditions of restricted inlet airflow.

The ADT7460 and ADT7463 feature a complete thermal control solution, with the ADT7463 also offering system and processor voltage monitoring; Pentium® 4 processor thermal control circuit (TCC) monitoring; a proprietary thermal operating point limit; and multi-zone thermal and multi-channel voltage monitoring, giving manufacturers a single-chip solution for monitoring and controlling fan speed based on up to three thermal zones and for measuring power supply voltages to ensure operation within specified limits.

The ADT7460 and ADT7463 are available in 16-pin and 24-pin QSOP packages and are sampling now. Per-unit prices in 10,000-piece quantities start at $2.35.
