Altair Technologies Enters into Cooperative Solar Cell Work Program

Altair International Inc. (Cody, WY) announced that its subsidiary, Altair Technologies, has entered into a cooperative solar-cell and energy-storage work program with the J. Heyrovský Institute (Czech Republic) Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland). Dr. Ladislav Kavan of the J. Heyrovský Institute is the principal investigator for the program. He is under the overall direction of Professor Michael Graetzel of the EPFL.

The agreement signed on May 21, 2001, provides that the work will be performed at the EPFL in conjunction with a program of mesoporous electroactive material directed by Michael Graetzel. Altair is providing advanced experimental nanostructured materials that are not commercially available and are considered by Dr. Kavan to have unique potential for his research.

Ken Lyon, president of Altair Technologies, said, “Our past relationship with Dr. Kavan at the J. Heyrovský Institute has been so productive that we are very pleased to extend this relationship to include Dr. Kavan's colleagues at the EPFL. So far, we have sent over three-dozen samples for evaluation by these outstanding researchers in solar-cell and energy-storage applications. One of the exciting elements of the program is that our process is capable of producing large quantities of material at economic prices as the research proves them to be of economic merit.”
