Alpha Co. Ltd. (Japan) announced its new UB Series of low-profile heatsinks for use in limited-space applications. The UB Series incorporates Alpha's elliptically shaped fin design, which is intended to maximize available surface area. The fin has a thickness of 0.55mm. Alpha's MicroForging process produces a solid, one-piece heatsink forged from 6063 Aluminum. Standard products range from 30mm to 60mm square and have standard fin heights from 10mm to 25mm.
The UB60C Series incorporates an embedded copper plate in the base. Fin geometry and fin heights are the same as previously mentioned. The U60 and UB60C are suitable for socket 370 and 462 applications. Typical thermal resistance of the UB Series is 0.61 degrees C/W at 2m/s.
