Akros Silicon Names Fred Greenfeld as Director of Applications

Akros Silicon Inc. announced that Fred Greenfeld has been named as Director of Applications. Mr. Greenfeld's extensive experience will be integral to Akros' growth as the company expands the reach of its proprietary integrated isolation technology to meet the energy and cost-saving demands of Power over Ethernet (PoE) and other enterprise-level designs and applications.

“Fred’s deep knowledge of isolated power architectures and broad experience managing engineering teams will be integral to providing our customers with world class technical support and design expertise for their next generation systems,” said Elie Antoun, President & CEO of Akros Silicon.

Before joining Akros, Fred was a Senior Principal Applications Engineer at Intersil Corp. where he was responsible for the architecture, validation and support of isolated power products. Before Intersil, he worked for Artesyn Embedded Technologies where he developed distributed power architecture and associated hardware for OEM customers. Prior to that, he designed ac-dc and dc-dc converters for telecom switches, routers, servers and enterprise-level systems for internal and OEM customers at AT&T Power Systems (now GE Energy). While employed at AT&T he also managed engineering teams responsible for the development and support of embedded power for AT&T telecom switches.

Before AT&T Fred Greenfeld was employed by IBM developing power supplies for PC and communication controller applications. He began his career at Unisys Corp (formerly Burroughs Corp) where he designed multi-kW power systems for enterprise-level and document processing systems. Mr. Greenfeld has a B.S. Physics and an M.S.E.E. from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina.
