ABSOPULSE Expands Existing Relationship with Power Sources Unlimited

February 12, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

ABSOPULSE Electronics Ltd. has expanded its relationship with Power Sources Unlimited, Inc. and the companies now refer to each other as "partners." As a result, PSUI will more actively promote the ABSOPLUSE line of high-reliability, heavy-duty switch-mode power conversion products for railway, industrial, airborne, military, marine, mining, utility and telecommunications applications. With this expanded relationship, Power Sources Unlimited continues to grow its portfolio of highly-reliable, configurable and cost-effective power solutions.

“Tony Szullo, the president of ABSOPULSE Electronics Ltd and Ray Newby, president of PSUI, have known each other for over two decades. As an OEM of heavy-duty, high-reliability switch-mode power supplies, ABSOPULSE has provided PSUI with power conversion solutions for many years. In recent months, our business relationship has become more active. No distribution agreement has been signed,” commented Carole Lombard, Marketing Specialist with ABSOPULSE.

ABSOPULSE specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of rugged power conversion products for the harshest environments. Built to ensure reliable operation under extreme field conditions, Absopulse’s rugged lines of power supplies operate in extended ambient temperatures ranging from –55 to +85 degrees C. They are immune to shock, vibration, dust, moisture, humidity, salt, chemicals, oil and fog. Most designs are baseplate conduction/convection cooled. They are typically designed to meet EN50155, EN50121-3-2 railway standards, UL508, EN60950 and equivalent standards for heavy industry, DO160 for airborne applications as well as MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810 military standards.

Field-proven designs offer high efficiency and full protection against surges and transients, contributing to low life cycle costs. With most designs meeting EN55022 Class B requirements, they can be safely used in EMI sensitive environments. A wide range of options include output fail alarms, redundancy, multiple inputs or outputs. Generous design headroom and the use of high quality components contribute to high MTBF ratings. All Absopulse power supplies are designed for a minimum operating life of 20 to 30 years.
