600W DOSA-Compatible Quarter Brick with Digital Control

August 11, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Delta Electronics, Inc. has introduced the Q48SC, 600W quarter-brick power converter family claiming the most cost-competitive design. The footprint and pinout of the converters follow the DOSA industry standard (2.30"x1.50"x0.37"). The Q48SC, a 48V input, single-output, isolated dc-dc converter, provides up to 600W of output power. It operates from an input voltage of 36V to 75V and is available for different output current levels to suit customer’s requirement (25A, 33A, 42A and 50A). There is a built-in digital pwm controller in the Q48SC series, which is used to complete the output-voltage feedback, pwm signal generation, droop current sharing, fault protection, output voltage trim, on/off control and PMBus communications, and more.

The Q48SC can be connected in parallel directly for higher power without adding external oring-FET. With optimized component placement and innovative design topologies, Q48SC converter claims not only outstanding electrical and thermal performance but also industry leading efficiencies which translate into more board space at less cost for our customer’s space constrained and cost-sensitive applications. Typical efficiency at full load is 95%.

The Q48SC converter comes complete with a host of industry-standard features to insure that this unit will reliably perform in the harshest environments. All modules are fully-protected against abnormal input/output voltage, current, and temperature conditions. Q48SC modules can also offer monotonic startup into normal or pre-biased loads.
