50VA Rugged Pure Sine Wave Inverter for CCTV Systems

July 10, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. has recently released the CSI 50-24/24-FT, an industrial-quality low-voltage dc-ac sine wave inverter specifically designed for powering CCTV systems. The inverter utilizes field proven, microprocessor controlled high frequency pwm technology to provide an output of 24Vac/50Hz and 2A rms. Regulation is better than ±2% from no load to full load across all line and load conditions. Efficiency is higher than 80% at full load. New topology streamlines the circuitry, resulting in high MTBF at lower cost versus similar 115Vac output units.

The standard input voltage is 24Vdc ± 15% with 12-, 36-, 48- or 125-Vdc and other inputs available on request. The input and output are filtered for low noise. The input meets the requirements for EN55022 Class B for conducted noise and radiated emissions. This ensures that the unit can be used in EMI sensitive environments, including residential areas, without any additional filtering.

The CSI 50-24/24-FT units are cooled mainly by natural convection. The heat generating components are also conduction cooled to the base plate. The units operate at full specification over a 0 to +50 degrees C temperature range. Ranges of -20 degrees C or lower, and up to + 70 degrees C are also available.

The inverter is housed in a robust aluminum chassis. Full ruggedizing and conformal coating are available for use in environments that demand protection from high levels of shock, vibration and moisture. Electronic protection includes inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, input transient clamping, output current limiting and short-circuit protection. The inverter meets EN/UL60950-1 and equivalent industrial standards.
