450mA LDO Regulator with Ultra-Low Noise and High PSRR

August 14, 2017 by Paul Shepard

The NCP148 from ON Semiconductor is a linear regulator capable of supplying 450mA output current. Designed to meet the requirements of RF and analog circuits, the NCP148 device provides low noise, high PSRR, low quiescent current, and very good load/line transients.

The NCP148 offers soft−start function with optimized slew rate control to use in camera module. The device is designed to work with a 1uF output ceramic capacitor. It is available in ultra−small 0.35P, 0.65 mm x 0.65 mm Chip Scale Package (CSP).

Applications are expected to include image sensors, RF modules, battery-powered circuits, precision analog circuits, audio CODECs and camera modules in tablet computers, cameras and camcorders, smartphones, and surveillance cameras.

Features and benefits of the NCP148 include:

  • Ultra High PSRR 90dB at 1kHz, 20mA makes this LDO suited for power sensitive device like Wi-Fi modules
  • Ultra Low Output Noise 10µVRMS is very well suited for noise sensitive application
  • Very Low Dropout 80mV@250mA enables it to work with very low VIN-VOUT difference
  • Operating Input Voltage Range 1.9V to 5.5V makes the NCP148 suitable for battery powered device
  • Ultra Low Quiescent current 18µA yields improved efficiency during light load conditions
  • Available in CSP4 0.35P package makes this device suited for space constrains application
  • Soft-start with optimized slew rate suites the supply needs of modern image sensors
