SynQor, Inc. has announced the release of its 28 V input VITA 62 compliant VPX Power Supply in a 3U form factor with I2C functionality for monitoring and control. This new option extends the capability of the 3U, 28 Vin VPX product family, which utilizes SynQor’s field proven MilQor® Mil-COTS product line.
The addition of the optional I2C functionality in SynQor’s 3U, 28 Vin VPX provides the user the ability to query the status of the power supply. This feature allows the user to monitor input voltage, current and power status; output voltage for each of the output rails; output current and power status for VS1, VS2 and VS3 outputs and three temperature readings at each card edge and the middle of the VPX chassis.
The VPX I2C communication supports both PMBus® and IPMI interfaces and complies with VITA 46.11 specification. The VPX dynamically identifies which interface is being used based on the incoming data structure without the need of any additional setup.
The 3U, 28 Vin VPX provides up to 500W of total output power at 91% efficiency to six standard VITA 62 outputs: +12V at 40A; +3.3V at 20A; +5.0V at 30A; +3.3 Vaux at 6A; +/-12 Vaux at 1A each. The operating temperature is -40°C to 85 °C at the card edge and the unit will deliver 100% of its power rating up to the 85°C temperature.
The unit also incorporates a passive input filter for MIL-STD-461F compliance. Input reverse polarity protection is an additional feature within the I2C models. The +12 V and the +5.0 V main outputs, as well as the +3.3 VAUX output, feature active current sharing through a backplane connection for higher power paralleled applications. The +/-12 VAUX outputs do not have current sharing, but they can be paralleled for redundancy.
The VPX Power Supplies are designed to comply with MIL-STD-704 (level dependent) and MIL-STD-810G. They have also been qualified to the most stringent levels of VITA 47. There are two screening levels available and a conformal coating option.
