3000W Military-Grade Expansion Battery Module

July 02, 2017 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor, Inc. announces a new addition to its line of Military Power Systems that are designed for the extreme environmental and demanding electrical conditions of Military/Aerospace applications. SynQor's EBM-1000 Military-Grade Expansion Battery Module (EBM) is designed specifically for use with the UPS-1500 and UPS-3000 series uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The EBM-1000 expands the UPS runtime by supplementing the battery energy available in the UPS battery pack.

When connected to a single EBM-1000, a UPS-1500 can achieve an additional 45 minutes of runtime at 1250W output while a UPS-3000 can achieve an additional 20 minutes of runtime at 2500W output. Up to three EBM units, operating under their internal Lithium-Polymer battery packs of the same type utilized in the UPS systems, can be combined for yet longer run times. The product contains an internal 500W battery charger that can draw power from an ac input having a wide range of voltage and frequency levels, or from a 28V nominal dc input.

The electronic circuitry within the EBM-1000 Series products is designed, qualified and screened according to SynQor’s MIL-COTS Standards. It complies with the requirements of MIL-STD-1399- 300B, MIL-STD-1275D and MIL-STD-461F, as well as IEC EN61000 specifications for world-wide commercial utility applications. The EBM-1000 is packaged in a 2U high, 19-inch rack mount system, weighing 61 pounds.

The electronic circuitry and battery are contained in a sealed chamber constructed from a die-cast aluminum chassis that is weatherproof and shock-proof, meeting MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-901D environmental requirements. Redundant, water-proof fans on the rear panel draw cooling air over the heat-sink fins below the sealed chamber. Military-grade circular connectors are used, and optional attached connector covers are available for when the cables are not attached. SynQor products are designed and manufactured in the U.S.A.
