August 31, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

The 16th Annual Battery Conference on Applications and Advances will be held January 9-12, 2001, in Long Beach, CA. The conference, sponsored by the Department of Electrical Engineering, California State University, Long Beach, will feature two parallel tracks of 11 technical sessions each examining the analysis, design and selection of batteries and power conditioners that meet the performance and cost goals of various applications. Track A will address high-power systems, including electric and hybrid vehicles, lead-acid batteries in telecommunications, large battery systems testing, and power source research and development. Track B will address low-power systems, including lithium-ion versus lithium-polymer systems for portable electronics, small batteries and fuel cell power sources, smart batteries power management, and safety of lithium batteries. The deadlines for submitting paper abstracts and manuscripts are September 15, 2000, and November 1, 2000, respectively.
